Family Bank has issued scholarships to five Form one students in Kakamega County.

The kitty targeting students who scored over 350 marks in KCPE will cater for their school fees and other personal requirements including shopping, uniforms and other school kits.

Also it will cover transportation to and from school, and pocket money throughout their four-year secondary school journey.

The five; three boys and two girls, are drawn from the two leading national schools of Maseno and Kakamega High as well as Mukumu Boys, Kolanya Girls and St Mary’s Girls.

They were picked following rigorous vetting of more than 100 applicants according to bank’s Kakamega branch manager Mr Stanley Sing’oei.

County Secretary Dr. Lawrence Omuhaka and Education CECM Dr Bonface Okoth separately thanked the sponsors for their gesture that complement efforts by the Barasa administration to expand scholarships and bursaries for students from vulnerable backgrounds.

Chief Officer Ms Vivienne Ayuma committed to closely monitor the academic progress of the beneficiaries.
