Today, His Excellency Governor FCPA Fernandes Barasa announced that the County Government of Kakamega will, in July, disburse KSh 60 million to 1,200 groups of women, persons with disabilities, and youth through the Social Protection Grants Program. The initiative will benefit community-based groups, 20 from each of the 60 wards , with each group receiving KSh 50,000 to boost their income-generating projects.
Governor Barasa made the announcement at Navakholo Stadium in Navakholo Sub-county, where he joined the Speaker of the National Assembly, Rt. Hon. Moses Masika Wetangโ€™ula, President William Rutoโ€™s aide, Mr. Farouk Kibet, National Assembly Majority Leader, Hon. Kimani Ichungโ€™wah, Senate Majority Leader, Hon. Aaron Cheruiyot, area MP, Hon. Emmanuel Wangwe, and other Members of Parliament, MCAs, among other leaders, for the Navakholo Women Empowerment Funds drive.
The Governor emphasized that the Social Protection Grants Program is a key part of his plan to support socio-economic growth at the grassroots. He assured residents that his government is committed to ensuring all vulnerable groups are included in the countyโ€™s development efforts and that all residents are given an equal opportunity to improve their lives.
