Accountants ensure the financial health and integrity of businesses and organizations. Their attention to detail, expertise in financial matters and commitment to maintaining accurate records are essential for making informed financial decisions which bring about success.
H.E FCPA Fernandes Barasa had the privilege of gracing a 5-day workshop organized by the Association of Women Accountants of Kenya (AWAK), a part of the larger ICPAK, in Kisumu County.
Addressing the workshop, the Governor discussed best practices in the accounting profession, guided by Chapter 12 of the Kenyan constitution and the Accountants Act, 2008.
In an effort to address the uncertainty surrounding the disbursement of funds to devolved units, Governor Barasa urged the Senate to expedite the passage of the National Treasury Bill, 2023. This bill aims to establish the National Treasury as a distinct entity, separate from the Ministry of Finance, granting it the required independence to effectively carry out its mandate.
The event was attended by the Chairperson AWAK, CPA Isabel Juma; Chief Executive Officer of the organisation, CPA Perpetua Bulemi; Board Members, Members of the organisation and County Officials.
