H.E. Governor FCPA Fernandes Barasa today inspected the ongoing construction of a 45-bed capacity maternity wing at Matungu Level IV Hospital in Mayoni Ward, Matungu Constituency — a key project delivered in partnership with Jacaranda Health.
The Governor expressed satisfaction with the progress of the project and confirmed that the facility will be commissioned this year. He also verified the availability of essential drugs at the hospital, reaffirming his administration’s commitment to quality and accessible healthcare for all.
In his address, Governor Barasa urged health officials to enroll all expectant mothers into the *Barasa Care* program, which provides KSh 12,000 to support maternal health. This amount is disbursed across crucial stages — antenatal visits, delivery in a health facility, and postnatal check-ups.
The Governor also emphasized the importance of registering under the Social Health Authority (SHA) scheme, which replaced the defunct NHIF. Through SHA, residents can access quality and affordable healthcare across all levels of facilities. He urged all residents to register and take full advantage of the enhanced healthcare benefits.
The Governor was accompanied by MCAs led by the host Hon. Fredrick Watitwa and County Executive Members led by Health Services CECM CPA Livingston Imbayi.
