H.E. Governor FCPA Fernandes Barasa today hosted Sports Principal Secretary Elijah Mwangi during an official inspection of the ongoing works at Bukhungu Stadium. The visit comes as Kakamega County prepares to host the East African Secondary Schools Games (FEASSA) in August.
Governor Barasa reiterated his commitment to delivering quality sports infrastructure that supports youth talent and positions Kakamega as a key sports tourism destination.
The playing surface will be ready by the end of July, within the timeframe for the FEASSA Games, while full completion of the stadium is projected for June 30, 2026.
Upon completion, Bukhungu Stadium will be one of the top sports venues in the region, enabling the county to nurture talents, host major tournaments and spur economic growth while empowering the youth through sports activities.
