The western edition of the Agricultural Society of Kenya (A.S.K) Show officially came to a close today at the Kakamega Showgrounds, with the event presided over by the County Executive Committee Member (CECM) for Agriculture, Livestock, Fisheries, and Cooperatives, Mr. Mophat Mandela.
Speaking during the closing ceremony, Mr. Mandela lauded the exhibitors for their innovations and the public for turning out in large numbers, terming this yearโ€™s show a success. He emphasized that the showโ€™s theme aligned with Governor Fernandes Barasaโ€™s strategic pillar on โ€œFood Security and Wealth Creation,โ€ urging farmers to adopt modern agricultural practices and technologies showcased during the event to increase productivity and improve livelihoods.
Mr. Mandela further reiterated the County Government’s commitment to empowering farmers through access to quality inputs, extension services, and sustainable market linkages. He encouraged the youth to embrace agriculture as a viable economic venture, noting that the Governorโ€™s administration is rolling out programs to support agribusiness and cooperative development.
