This afternoon, H.E. Governor Dr. FCPA Fernandes Barasa attended the Annual General Meeting of the Kakamega County Water and Sanitation Company (KACWASCO), bringing together the company’s leadership and key county government officials to review performance and chart strategies for improving water and sanitation services across the county. The meeting provided a critical platform for stakeholders to assess operational progress and strengthen initiatives aimed at expanding access to clean and reliable water for residents.
The Governor urged KACWASCO to uphold professionalism and maintain high operational standards while leveraging technical expertise to transform service delivery. He challenged the team to address water losses and enhance efficiency, emphasizing that prudent management is key to sustainable water supply. The Governor also called on the company’s leadership and technical team to deliver on his administration’s β€œAmatsi Khumuliango” agenda by ensuring last-mile water connections reach households across Kakamega County.
The meeting also featured the unveiling of KACWASCO’s newly appointed directors, led by the County Executive Committee Member for Water, Environment, Natural Resources and Climate Change, Ms. Penina Mukabane. Governor Barasa noted that strengthening the company’s leadership will be instrumental in accelerating the realization of universal water access in the county.
The engagement highlighted the County Government of Kakamega’s commitment to working closely with KACWASCO to strengthen service delivery and ensure sustainable management of water resources. Also present were the KACWASCO Board Members led by the Chairperson Mr. Boaz Bulimu, and other officials.
