H.E FCPA Fernandes Barasa made an impromptu visit to Matungu Level-4 Hospital to inspect the recent delivery of drugs and non-pharmaceuticals, and assess the impact of the Barasa Care Program, which provides maternity services to expectant mothers in County hospitals.

During the visit, the Governor toured the facility’s Outpatient section, maternity wing (including the Post Natal, Newborn, and Mother Care Units), Pharmacy, Medical Supplies Store, and Dental Unit. He also visited the construction site for a new maternity wing, set to be built in partnership with Jacaranda Health, which will have the capacity to serve approximately 50 patients.

Governor Barasa directed the Department of Health to increase awareness and encourage residents to register for Barasa Care to fully benefit from its services. He also gathered feedback on the new cashless system that is enhancing service delivery and pledged to expedite the completion of the hospital’s ongoing theatre unit construction.

Addressing the issue of staff shortages, the Governor announced that the County is in the process of recruiting 300 healthcare workers to be deployed across various facilities.

He was welcomed by Mr. Ronald Ngao Wanjala, the Medical Superintendent of the hospital.
