This evening, H.E. FCPA Governor Fernandes Barasa joined the family and residents of Budonga Village in Bunyala West Ward, Navakholo Constituency, to mourn the passing of the late Mzee Cornel Odero Okoth, father to Dr. Bonface Okoth, the Kakamega CECM for Public Service and County Administration.

Governor Barasa eulogized the late Mzee Odero as a courageous and hardworking man, famously remembered as โ€œThe Leopard Killerโ€ for bravely slaying a wild leopard at the age of 25โ€”a story that has lived on in local folklore.

While addressing mourners, the Governor announced that the Budonga Water Project is ongoing and will be fully commissioned in the next three months, reaffirming his administrationโ€™s commitment to improving access to clean water. He further revealed that the Mukama ECDE Centre is nearing completion and will be officially opened within a few weeks.

The Governor was accompanied by the First Lady, Prof. Janet Kassilly Barasa, a host of MCAs led by area MCA Hon. Sebastian Mangโ€™eni, and members of the County Executive.
