H.E. Governor FCPA Fernandes Barasa today joined Interior CS Hon. Kipchumba Murkomen at the 36th Jukwaa La Usalama town hall meeting – Kakamega Edition, held at Golf Hotel. The forum, which featured leaders, security agencies, and members of the public, provided a platform to deliberate on key security and registration matters with the shared goal of building a safer and more secure Kakamega.

A key outcome of the meeting was the agreement to strengthen Civil Registration Services. The CS committed to operationalize three new registries within three months and one more next year, addressing the current limitation of only seven registries countywide.

In his address, Governor Barasa highlighted broader areas of collaboration between the County Government and the National Government, including security, the ongoing construction of Kakamega Level 6 Hospital, and the completion of Bukhungu Stadium, among others.

The meeting further emphasized the gains of scrapping the Ksh 300 ID fee and piloting Live Capture Units, which have boosted registration across the 40 centers in 14 Sub-Counties.

Also in attendance were Deputy Governor Ayub Savula, Deputy Inspector General of Administrative Police Service Gilbert Masengeli, PAS Beverly Opwora, MPs, MCAs led by Kakamega County Assembly Speaker Rt. Hon. James Namatsi, and other stakeholders.
