H.E FCPA Fernandes Barasa, together with the first family, celebrated holy mass with faithfuls of Holy Spirit Bulimbo Catholic Church in Kholera Ward, Matungu Sub-County.
The Governor called on Christians to continue taking care of one another through alms giving, and practice control through fasting and prayer during this holy period of lent.
He reiterated that the County Government of Kakamega has continued to implement programs that empower the people, including distribution of subsidized Microfinance loans valued at Ksh. 115 million, subsidized farm inputs program costing over Ksh. 700 million, 10KM per Ward road projects costing Ksh. 600 million, bursary program worth Ksh. 240 million that will be launched this week on Wednesday, among others.
The First Lady, Prof. Janet Kassily Barasa, In reference to #IWD2024, emphasized the importance of fostering self-reliance among women in Kakamega County, stressing the significance of economic empowerment and advocating for women’s rights in various spheres, including politics, governance, and employment opportunities.
Also present were MCAs led by the Majority Leader Hon. Philip Maina, Officials from the Executive, among other faithfuls.
