H.E. Governor Fernandes met with a USAID delegation to discuss the Local Food Systems program, valued at Ksh. 6.3 B, which will be implemented across six counties. The program aims at spurring economic growth, alleviating poverty, and improving living standards.
Running for five years, the program will be funded by USAID and executed by TechnoServe. It will focus on food production, processing, aggregation, and marketing, while also integrating resilience and market systems development throughout all value chains.
The meeting was attended by Executive staff including the County Secretary and Head of Public Service, Dr. Lawrence Omuhaka, Randy Smith from the US Governmentβs Kakamega County Engagement Team, Elizabeth Eckart, Chief of Party at TechnoServe, and Sebastian Wanjala, Deputy Chief of Party at TechnoServe.
