His Excellency FCPA Governor Fernandes Barasa today participated in an Extra-Ordinary Full Council of Governors (CoG) State of Devolution Address (SODA) Meeting in Nairobi, convened to reflect on cross-sectoral achievements and challenges witnessed by counties in the implementation of devolved functions, including health, agriculture, infrastructure, and governance for the financial year 2024/2025.
The 2025 State of Devolution Address, delivered by CoG Chair H.E. Ahmed Abdullahi, marked 12 years of Devolution in Kenya. The event was graced by Excellency Governors and Deputy Governors, Health CS Hon. Aden Duale, representatives from National Government Ministries, and Development Partners, who committed to advancing the devolution agenda.
The Governors earlier took part in a high-level consultative session with Hon. Duale, where key interventions in the health sector were discussed. These included streamlining Social Health Authority (SHA) systems to enhance service delivery, improving transparency in the rollout of the National Equipment Services Programme (NESP), ensuring timely access to essential medical supplies through KEMSA, among others.
