COUNTY INDUCTS KCGTRH BOARD MEMBERS
The County Government of Kakamega has today inducted members of the Kakamega County General Teaching and Referral Hospital (KCGTRH) Board on their roles and responsibilities in strengthening governance and enhancing the delivery of quality healthcare services to residents across the County.
The induction marks the conclusion of a countywide exercise aimed at equipping all hospital boards with the requisite governance, oversight, and accountability framework to improve service delivery in public health facilities.
Speaking during the KCGTRH Board induction, the County Executive Committee Member (CECM) for Health Services, Dr. Livingstone Imbayi, highlighted urgent priority areas at the Level V facility. Key among them is the development of robust strategies to scale up the Facility Improvement Fund (FIF) collections to a projected Ksh. 202 million per month.
He, further, emphasized the need to seal revenue leakages, strengthen internal controls, and enhance financial prudence to ensure sustainability.
Dr. Imbayi also underscored the importance of uplifting staff morale, noting that a motivated workforce is central to improved patient outcomes and efficient service delivery.
Chief Officer for Medical Services, Dr. David Alilah, assured the board of his full support in executing its mandate, particularly in strengthening the hospital workforce and addressing pending bills to stabilize operations at the referral facility.
Chief Officer for Public Health, Mrs. Rose Muhanda, reaffirmed her department’s commitment to reinforcing preventive and promotive health interventions to complement curative services at the facility.
Also present during the induction were the Director of Medical Services, Dr. Stephen Wandei, and the KCGTRH Medical Superintendent, Dr. Christian Lamba.
