CITIZEN FORUM ON DEVELOPMENT PRIORITIES IN MALAVA MUNICIPALITY
Malava Municipality stakeholders were on, Wednesday, 11th February 2026, given an opportunity to air their views on key issues that would shape the future of Malava Municipality during a public participation meeting held at the Sub-county headquarters.
The event that was graced by CECM Sports and Culture, Ms. Jackline Masicha on behalf of the CEC lands, Housing, Urban Areas and Physical Planning, Ms. Angela Muchai, members of the public got an opportunity to give their views on the Municipality boundary and priority projects that they feel should be implemented by the Municipality.
On the Municipality boundary, members resolved that further inclusive discussions should commence with an objective of expanding the current Municipality boundary to include South Kabras and East Kabras wards.
Members, further, spoke of the urgent need to improve on the roads, lighting and sanitation infrastructure within Malava town and its environs.
On her part, Ms. Jackline Masicha emphasised that Malava Municipality will be an asset to the people of Malava and kakamega County as a whole. She also reiterated that the municipality was part of HE Dr. FCPA Fernandes Barasa’s six point agenda of Wealth Creation and Infrastructure Development and that it will help spur growth of Malava sub county hence increasing revenue collection and allocation.
Members of the public were also introduced to and they welcomed the incoming Municipal Manager, Joseph Wafula Mikangi, who asked them for their support and cooperation as he settles down in the new station.
Present were, CO Sports Mr. Lawrence Mukoyani, MCAs from Chemuche, Mugai/ shirugu, South kabras and East kabras wards, Advisor, Governance and Strategy in the office of the Governor, Mr Alfred Saidi Khasavuli, Malava Sub-county Administrator, the immediate former Acting Municipal Manager, CPA Musafiri Kulova and other County executive officers from Malava sub-county.
