The County Executive Committee Member (CECM) for Trade, Industrialization, and Tourism, Mr. Godfrey Owuor, today officially commissioned three modern ablution blocks at Buhuru, Otiato, and Imanga markets in Mumias West Sub-County.
The initiative aims to enhance public sanitation and promote a healthier trading environment for local traders. The newly constructed facilities were formally handed over to the respective Market Management Committees for proper maintenance and oversight.
Speaking during the commissioning, Mr. Owuor highlighted that the improved sanitation infrastructure will not only promote hygiene but also stimulate business growth by creating a clean and conducive environment for trade. He emphasized the importance of maintaining cleanliness and ensuring the facilities are managed responsibly for long-term sustainability.
He further urged traders to support and rally behind Governor Barasa’s administration in advancing development programs that improve livelihoods and enhance the business ecosystem in the county.
The Chief Officer for Trade, Ms. Faith Gitira, lauded the project, noting that the facilities will provide clean, safe, and accessible sanitation, particularly benefiting women and persons living with disabilities.
Also present during the event was the Mumias West Sub-County Administrator, Ms. Diana Kisaka, among other county officials and market representatives.
