COUNTY STRATEGIZES ON SEALING REVENUE LEAKAGES

Senior Officers from the County Government of Kakamega on Wednesday attended a meeting convened to strategize on how to seal revenue leakages and enhance service delivery to residents of Kakamega County.

During the meeting chaired by the CECM for Public Service and Administration (PSA) Mr. Benjamin Andama and attended by representatives from all the County departments, various measures were discussed to seamlessly allow Kakamega County Revenue Agency (KCRA) collect the Kshs 2 Billion revenue target set by H.E Governor Fernandes Barasa’s administration.

A comprehensive Government approach was suggested by Mr Andama to achieve the target and called for participation of all County departments and Agencies. Dr. Mariam Barasa the CECM for Lands, Housing, Urban Areas and Physical Planning on her part committed to develop the Geospatial plan by end of June 2022 to guide on collection of taxes from revenue streams related to her Department such as land rates. Ways of improving Municipal and Urban centres across Kakamega County was also discussed among other matters.

Present were Chief Officers Dr. Phitalis Masakhwe (Risk Management and Service Delivery) Mr. Aden Shakir (Housing and Urban areas) Ms. Priscah Otipa (Public Service) Ms. Dorine Amwoga (County Administration) as well as KCRA Chief Revenue Administrator CPA Christopher Ombunya among others.
