Governor Barasa Joins Catholic Faithful in Ash Wednesday Observance

H.E.Dr.Fernandes Barasa,FCPA this afternoon joined Catholic faithful drawn from the St. John Paul II County Catholic Chaplaincy for an Ash Wednesday Mass held at the County Chambers. The chaplaincy was established to serve Catholic members of staff within the County Government of Kakamega, providing a structured platform for spiritual nourishment, counselling, and moral guidance in the workplace.
During the service, the Governor encouraged Christian faithful to embrace the Lenten season as a sacred period of reflection, prayer, humility, repentance, and renewed commitment to service, emphasizing the importance of integrity, compassion, and ethical leadership in both public and private life.
The Ash Wednesday observance marks the beginning of the Lenten season in the Christian calendar, calling believers to spiritual renewal and acts of charity, values that resonate strongly with the County Government’s commitment to servant leadership and people-centred development.
The Holy Mass was presided over by Fr. Boniface Mmbwanga.
The Governor was accompanied by the First Lady, H.E. Prof. Janet Kassily Barasa, Honourable Members of the County Assembly of Kakamega, members of the County Executive, and county staff.
