Kakamega County Secretary Assumes Office
Kakamega County Governor H.E Hon. Wycliffe Ambetsa Oparanya today presided over the swearing in ceremony of the County Secretary Dr. Beatrice Makanga Sabana, three Chief Officers; Evelyne Shipala Shitsama (Education Science and Technology), Wamalwa Joel Makokha (Water, Environment and Natural Resources) and Dr. Brenda Makokha Barasa (Health Services) at the county headquarters.
Dr. Makanga holds a PhD in Business Administration from University of Nairobi, a Master of Business Administration (MBA) Degree from the University of Leeds, UK and a Bachelor of Education (Business and Economics) Degree from University of Nairobi. She has rich mix of working experience spanning across the public and private sectors as well as academia. She has worked at the National Government as a Trade Development Officer (Department of Trade), a Lecturer at JKUAT, Regional Manager at Standard Chartered Bank, Microfinance Development Specialist with Microfinance Capacity Building Programme for Africa. Dr. Makanga had a stint with United Nations as Chairperson of International Year of Microcredit and worked with Heritage Consultants Ltd as Managing Director until her joining the County Government of Kakamega.
The ceremony was also accompanied by the commissioning of Revenue and Town Management Committees, mandated with improving service delivery in revenue collection and proper utilization of town resources.
Governor Oparanya stamped authority on the expected high discipline from the officers insisting on streamlined operations of relevant institutions, efficiency and professionalism for improved service delivery to the public.
