KAKAMEGA TO INTEGRATE CORRUPTION PREVENTION STRATEGIES INTO PERFORMANCE MANAGEMENT
The County Government of Kakamega is determined to combat corruption by integrating prevention strategies into its performance contracting tool for public service management.
The CECM for Public Service and Administration, Dr Bonface Okoth announced this during a training forum for county directors and sub-county administrators on the prevention of corruption in public service at the Chambers Hall on Tuesday. The training, which followed another session for high-level executives on Monday, aims to equip the officers to pass on anti-corruption knowledge to lower-cadre colleagues.
He mentioned corruption mitigation measures such as establishing corruption prevention committees, protecting whistleblowers and implementing empowerment strategies for corruption detection to mitigate risks before they arise as some of the measures that will be embraced in the fight against corruption.
County Secretary and Head of Public Service Dr. Lawrence Omuhaka emphasized the need to eliminate corrupt practices that hinder public service urging them to lead efforts in their respective departments.
Mr Stanislaus Ondimu from the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) guided the officers on EACC’s mandate, corruption conceptsand prevention strategies, including procedures to curb bribery and corruption.
