NATIONAL AND COUNTY GOVERNMENT UNITE AGAINST ALCOHOL AND DRUG ABUSE
The county government of Kakamega in collaboration with the national government carried out a sensitization exercise to educate residents of Kakamega on the effects of alcohol abuse; a major vice affecting the residents of the county.
The officials present led by County Secretary and Head of Public Service Dr Lawrence Omuhaka urged residents to reduce intake of alcohol and only drink responsibly if they have to indulge. He mentioned that the county is working together with learning institutions such as county polytechnics to end alcoholism and drug abuse, which continues to negatively impact many residents in the productive demographic.
The exercise that saw residents stage a National Substance Use Prevention walk was coordinated by the National Authority for the Campaign Against Alcohol and Drug Abuse (NACADA); was held under the theme โEmpowerment of Communities for a Brighter Future.โ
