Today, H.E. FCPA Fernandes Barasa refuted claims that Red Cross have withdrawn ambulance services in the County due to a payment dispute, describing the allegations as misleading. He warned politicians against politicizing health matters as they are vital and they should not be subjected to political posturing.

Governor Barasa was speaking when, alongside the First Lady, Prof. Janet Kassilly Barasa, he celebrated Holy Mass at the Holy Spirit Bulimbo Catholic Church in Kholera Ward, Matungu Sub-county.

The Sunday mass, presided over by Rt. Rev. Obanyi Sagwe, the Bishop of the Catholic Diocese of Kakamega, marked the day of Pentecost, a commemoration of the descent of the Holy Spirit upon the Apostles of Jesus in Jerusalem.

During the service, the Governor announced the resumption of operations at Mumias Sugar Company following routine maintenance. He also called on the Agriculture and Food Authority (AFA) to increase the tonnage price of sugarcane to at least Ksh. 6,000.

The church function was also attended by MCAs led by Majority Leader Hon. Philip Maina, host MCA, Hon. Karim Tingili, and County Officials and Administrators.
