COUNTY, EACC AND GIZ PARTNER TO STRENGTHEN GOOD GOVERNANCE

The County Government of Kakamega, in partnership with the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) and GIZ through the Strengthening Good Governance Programme, has convened a capacity-building session for the County Executive on good governance and ethical public service.

The training focused on identifying ethical gaps in public service that could create corruption loopholes and inadvertently affect effective service delivery to the residents of Kakamega County.

Speaking during the official opening, County Public Service Board Vice Chairperson, Mrs. Vivien Ashiachi, welcomed the training, noting that it will equip county officers with knowledge to navigate through ethical dilemmas they may encounter in the course of their duties, thus helping them to safeguard their careers in public service.

EACC Assistant Director, Mr. Solomon Atela, said the Commission’s engagement with the County aims at strengthening corruption prevention measures, seal potential loopholes and promote effective service delivery to Kenyans.

GIZ Strengthening Good Governance Programme Team Lead, Ms. Judy Oduma, reaffirmed the organisation’s commitment to supporting capacity building for Kakamega County staff in strengthening good governance.

The session brought together all County Chief Officers, led by Chief Officer for Service Delivery, Dr. Phitalis Masakhwe.
