Kakamega Governor H.E FCPA Fernandes Barasa has warned political leaders against disrupting learning in schools. This follows the forced removal of the Isongo Secondary school principal in Mumias East Sub-county by angry parents and students due to reported poor performance in the 2023 KCSE exams.

The Governor attributed these actions to incitement by local politicians who have chosen a path of indiscriminate condemnation as opposed to thoughtful and strategic approach to addressing academic matters. He urged Members of the National Assembly to unite with him by complementing his Ksh. 240 million bursary kitty and scholarship program aimed at elevating education standards in Kakamega.

Governor Barasa made these remarks at Lumakanda grounds in Lugari Sub-County during the funeral of Mzee Hezekiah Bulimu. The late, a loving father to the KACWASCO Board Chair, Mr. Boaz Bulimu, was described as a man whose wisdom served as a guiding light to those fortunate enough to share his journey.

Deputy Governor Hon. Ayub Savula asked Kakamega Senator Hon. Dr. Bonnie Khalwale to give the current leadership under Governor Barasa time to deliver its manifesto to the people. He criticized the Senator, describing him as a leader with a poor development record throughout the positions he has held previously.

The Governor was joined by the area MP Hon. Nabii Nabwera, Likuyani MP Hon. Innocent Mugabe, former Lugari MP Hon. Cyrus Jirongo, Lake Victoria North Water Works Development Agency CEO Mr. Joel Wamalwa, MCAs led by the host Hon. Benard Bokanda, County Officials and Administrators from both levels of government.
