This evening, H.E. FCPA Fernandes Barasa confirmed Kakamega’s status as a talent hub by unveiling the Secondary School teams from the County that will represent the Western Region in the National KSSSA games, to be held in Kisii County from August 2nd.

The teams, Butere Girls basketball 3-aside and soccer, Koyonzo 7s-aside male rugby, and Musingu Boys soccer, qualified for the National tournament after edging out their opponents from the Western Region in the finals held in Bungoma County.

The County will also send 13 studentsβ€”9 girls and 4 boysβ€”to the tournament to represent the region in racquet sports, namely; lawn tennis, table tennis, and badminton.

Aside from wishing the teams success, the Governor sponsored them with a cash donation of Ksh. 300,000, emphasizing that the conditions are set for them to excel and represent Kenya in the 21st edition of the East African games, FEASSA, set to be held in Uganda.

Present were the Western Branch Secretary, Mr. Tom Quinto, KSSSA Kakamega Chairman, Mr. Lazarus Makokha, Principals and representatives of the schools, as well as County Officials.
