H.E. FCPA Governor Fernandes Barasa today concluded the distribution of free fertiliser and maize seeds across the southern and central regions of Kakamega County by overseeing the final phase of the exercise in Shinyalu, Ikolomani, and Khwisero Constituencies.

This countywide initiative has so far covered Shinyalu, Matungu, Butere, Mumias East, Mumias West, Navakholo, Lurambi, Ikolomani, and now Khwisero sub-counties. The remaining northern regionโ€”comprising Malava, Lugari, and Likuyaniโ€”will receive their share of the inputs on Wednesday.

This initiative is part of Governor Barasaโ€™s firm commitment to enhancing food security and empowering vulnerable households to actively participate in food production and wealth creation.

While addressing residents, Governor Barasa announced that the Munjutiโ€“Emasatsiโ€“Emakโ€“Ekonjero road in Khwisero is set for upgrading to bitumen standards in the next financial year. He also confirmed that the stalled Misango Hills Water Project is being revived to improve access to clean water in the region.

The Governor also announced that the construction of the Madala Tea Factory will commence before the end of May. Once completed, the factory is expected to enhance tea production, generate employment, and strengthen food security in the region.

Governor Barasa was accompanied by Deputy Governor H.E. Ayub Savula, area MCAs, and members of the County Executive Committee.
