H.E. Governor FCPA Fernandes Barasa today flagged off water pipes and meters under the Savona Water Project in Lurambi Sub-county — marking a major milestone in improving last-mile water connectivity for residents.
Implemented through the FLLoCA support program, the project is set to deliver over 6 million litres of clean water daily, significantly boosting access to safe water and reducing the burden of water rationing in targeted areas.
Governor Barasa emphasized that the project will stabilize water supply in Shinyalu, Shirere, Shieywe, Lurambi, Mahiakalo, and Butsotso Central, aligning with his water-at-the-doorstep agenda meant to bring water close to people, commonly known as Amatsi Khumuliango.
Also present were MCAs led by Hon. Scholastica Ngina Shiraku — Vice Chairperson of the Water Committee, and CECM for Water, Environment, Natural Resources, and Climate Change, Mrs. Peninah Mukabane, among other senior government officials.
