H.E FCPA Fernandes Barasa presided over the signing of a tripartite MoU between the County Government of Kakamega, Practical Action, and Regen Organics – a key post #KAIICO2024 achievement.

The agreement aims to apply cutting-edge technology and innovation to recycle organic waste, converting it into fertilizer and protein animal feeds.

In addition to the ongoing construction of the Regen’s manufacturing plant at Matawa in Mumias West, this collaboration will establish Material Recovery Facilities (MRFs), which will play a crucial role in modern waste management systems by focusing on the sorting, processing, and recovery of recyclable materials from waste streams.

Governor Barasa noted that this collaboration will lead to increased efficiency in waste management, job creation, environmental conservation, as well as lowering the cost of fertilizer through the local manufacturing of organic fertilizer.

The Governor extended his deepest gratitude to the partners: Practical Action, DANIDA, USAID, JICA, and Regen Organics for their unwavering commitment and collaboration with the County Government of Kakamega in ensuring wealth creation and a safe environment for the residents.

Present were MCAs, the Executive and officials of Kakamega County Investment and Development Agency, as well as esteemed partners.
