SCHOOL HEADS URGED NOT TO SEND AWAY LEARNERS
Kakamega County Governor H.E FCPA Fernandes Barasa has implored Heads of learning institutions across the County not to send learners back home for non-payment of school fees.
The Governor made the remarks in Ikolomani Sub-County on Wednesday after issuing a cheque worth KES 8 million as bursary in aid of school going children in the Sub-County. Collectively, the Governor announced, the County Government has released KES 120 Million as bursary to the sixty wards and called for collaboration between the County and the National Government through the Constituency Development Fund to ensure parents are cushioned against the current harsh economic times.
The County Government has also partnered with ACCESS KENYA to offer scholarships to needy learners who score C+ and above in their Kenya Certificate of Secondary Examinations.
Deputy Governor H.E Ayub Savula who has just returned from a capacity building tour of Israel urged local elected leaders to desist from criticising Governor Barasa whom he said is steadily implementing his manifesto in accordance with the pledges he made to the residents of Kakamega County.
Today, Thursday, the Governor will issue the cheques in Navakholo, Mumias West, Mumias East and Matungu Sub-Counties. Ikolomani, Shinyalu, Butere and Khwisero received theirs on Wednesday.
