GOVERNOR BARASA RE-ELECTED AS CoG CHAIR OF FINANCE COMMITTEE, AS HIS FELLOW FCPA TAKES THE COUNCIL’S CHAIRPERSON SEAT

H.E Governor FCPA Fernandes Barasa has been re-elected as the Chairperson of the Finance, Planning, and Economic Affairs Committee of the Council of Governors during the Ordinary Meeting held today at Safari Park, Nairobi.

In his acceptance speech, Governor Barasa thanked his colleagues for entrusting him, for the third time, with the leadership of this crucial Committee of the Council, promising to champion for timely release of Equitable Share of Revenue to counties by the National Treasury, the enhancement of counties’ own source revenue, and accountability and transparency to ensure optimal service delivery in the devolved units.

The new Council of Governors Chairperson is H.E. FCPA Ahmed Abdullahi, the Governor of Wajir County, who succeeds, H.E. Anne Waiguru,the Governor of Kirinyaga.

The meeting was also graced by Chief Justice Hon. Martha Koome, PS State Department of Devolution Ms. Teresia Mbaika Malokwe, and the Chairperson of the Devolution Donor Working Group, Amb. Stephan SchΓΈnneman.
