The intersection between greenhouse gas emissions, climate change, and small livestock commercialization presents both challenges and opportunities for sustainable agricultural growth.

Livestock Chief Officer Ms. Jessica Weku attended a training session for ward coordinators under the Kenya Livestock Commercialization Project. They will collect data on small livestockβ€”such as goats, sheep, and poultryβ€”to assess their contribution to greenhouse gas emissions.

Since these emissions contribute to ozone layer depletion and global warming, the initiative aims to promote sustainable mitigation strategies which include improved feeding practices, better manure management, and climate-resilient infrastructure.

The findings will help guide local farmers more effectively, supporting Governor Barasa’s agenda on food security and wealth creation.
