COUNTY GOVERNMENT OF KAKAMEGA SIGNS MOU FOR SOLAR ENERGY IN HEALTH AND EDUCATION INSTITUTIONS
Kakamega County Government has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Invest in Green Energy, an English company, to establish a collaborative framework for implementing the Empowering Kakamega County Solar Energy for Sustainable Education project.
The partnership, which aligns with Governor Barasaโs vision of sustainable development and cost-effective energy solutions for public institutions in Kakamega County, will promote the use of solar energy in county institutions, particularly healthcare facilities and polytechnics, as part of low cost, sustainable energy transition.
A survey conducted last year (2024) assessed the project’s viability. Under the agreement, the county government will facilitate the issuance of necessary licenses to enable full implementation.
The MoU signing was attended by the County Secretary, who represented H.E Governor FCPA Fernandes Barasa. Also present were the CECM for Water, Natural Resources, Climate Change and Environment Ms. Peninah Mukabane, County Attorney Ms. Vivian Mbaka among other senior officers.
