KAKAMEGA COUNTY’S CARE WITH A TOUCH INITIATIVE LAUNCHED
The County Government of Kakamega in partnership with Cheshire Disability Services Kenya, Wednesday morning launched the _โCare With A Touchโ (CWA_T)_ initiative, an 18-month program designed to enhance the well-being of children with disabilities through comprehensive and sustainable services. The initiative integrates healthcare, psychosocial support, education and community inclusion.
CPA Livingstone Imbayi the County Executive Committee Member (CECM) for Health Services, graced the event and noted that it is a reflection of Governor Fernandes Barasaโs vision for inclusivity and equity for all residents of Kakamega County. He underscored its importance towards implementation of the County’s Disability Services Act.
The CECM further asserted the County Governmentโs commitment to sustaining and scaling up the program beyond the initial 18-month period. Under the Malezi Bora initiative, Kakamega County is reinforcing focus on inclusive care for all children, particularly those with disabilities.
Ms. Cecilia Mutava the Chief Executive Officer Cheshire Disability Services Kenya stated that the initiative enhances service delivery through strengthening of families and reforms systems to ensure inclusivity for every child.
Present were Chief Officers Ms Rose Muhanda (Public Health), Dr. David Alila (Medical Services), Dr. Phitalis Masakhwe (Service Delivery and Ag. E-government & Communication) who is also a persons with disabilities champion and Ms Christine Oside (Social Services, Gender & Culture).
