The Eshiongoโ€“Bumamu Road in Esumeiyaโ€“Shinoyiโ€“Shikomari Ward is set to ease movement and boost economic activity for the people of Navakholo Sub-county.
This afternoon, H.E. Governor FCPA Fernandes Barasa inspected the ongoing maintenance works under the County Government’s flagship 4km per Ward road maintenance program, which is currently being rolled out across the 60 wards of Kakamega County.
Addressing the residents, Governor Barasa expressed his commitment to improving rural roads infrastructure. He reiterated his stand on the ongoing tussle between Members of Parliament and Governors over the Sh10.5 billion Roads Maintenance Levy as a key impediment to the smooth implementation of roadworks across the country.
He also confirmed that the high mast lighting at Shiongo Market is now functional following the current countywide repairsโ€”an important step toward improved security and longer trading hours for local businesses.
The Governor was accompanied by MCAs from Navakholo Constituency and County Executive Members led by Roads CECM, Architect Patrick Kundu.
