GOVERNOR FERNANDES BARASA PRAISED FOR EXEMPLARY INDUSTRIALIZATION IN KAKAMEGA COUNTY

His Excellency Governor Fernandes Barasa has been lauded as a visionary leader in industrial development following the recent handover of the Kakamega Level 6 Hospital and the completion of Bukhungu Stadium in Lurambi Sub-County. These milestones were highlighted during a Sunday service at Mwibuye Church of God in Butsotso East Ward, Lurambi.
Speaking on behalf of Governor Barasa, Chief Officer for Environment CPA Bill Silingi outlined key development achievements spearheaded by the County Government. Notably, he mentioned the Level 6 hospital project, now under a co-funding agreement with the Department of Defense (DoD), where Kakamega County will contribute KSh 300 million and DoD KSh 500 million. The facility, expected to be completed in the next six months, is projected to generate over 3,000 direct jobs and establish Kakamega as a medical hub for the Western region.
CPA Silingi also highlighted the completion of Bukhungu Stadium, the County Social Empowerment Grants programโ€”offering KSh 50,000 to 20 groups per wardโ€”and ongoing partner initiatives such as FLLoCA and NAVCDP aimed at boosting local development.
He further urged residents of Lurambi to register for the Social Health Authority (SHA) program, which offers accessible health financing for all Kakamega County residents.
The service was attended by local leaders, including Members of the County Assembly (MCAs) from Lurambi Sub-County, led by Butsotso East MCA Mr. Benard Luvega.
