COUNTY WIDE MASS DEWORMING CAMPAIGN ONGOING

County Government officers in collaboration with officials from Amref Kenya are currently undertaking a Mass Drug Administration exercise aimed at eliminating intestinal worms and bilharzia across Kakamega County.

The deworming campaign targets the entire population aged 1 year and above, with Albendazole or Mebendazole administered accordingly. In bilharzia-endemic areas, Praziquantel (PZQ) will be administered to eligible individuals.

In addition to the drug distribution, communities are being encouraged to adopt proper Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) practices, eat well before taking the prescribed PZQ, and to drink plenty of water to minimize side effects.

The exercise commenced on Thursday July 17th and will come to an end tomorrow, Monday 21st, 2025.
