In a major step towards achieving access to clean and safe water, and under his clarion call Amatsi Khumuliango (Water at the Doorstep), H.E. Governor FCPA Fernandes Barasa has commissioned the Lubanga Solarised Water Project at Lubanga Secondary School in Matungu Sub-county.
The facility, with a daily production capacity of 44,800 litres, will provide a sustainable water supply to both the school and the neighbouring community. This solar-powered initiative not only aligns with Governor Barasaโs green infrastructure agenda but also reinforces his commitment to closing the water access gap, particularly in underserved rural areas.
The commissioning of the Lubanga Water Project is a clear demonstration of Governor Barasa’s resolve to deliver on the Amatsi Khumuliango promise, ensuring that every household, institution, and village in Kakamega enjoys safe, reliable, and affordable water.
The Governor emphasized that strategic investments in solarised water systems are key to building resilience against climate change and reducing operational costs. As more communities benefit from similar transformative initiatives, the Governorโs agenda for a healthy and dignified life for all continues to gain momentum across Kakamega County.
Present were Members of the County Assembly, County Executives led by CECM Ms. Penina Mukabana, among other county officials.
