AMREF IN PARTNERSHIP WITH COUNTY GOVERNMENT TRAINS DRUGS DISTRIBUTORSR

The County Government of Kakamega in collaboration with Amref Kenya is currently training Community Drug Distributors (CDDs) on necessary skills required for administering drugs targeting intestinal worms and Bilharzia, as part of an intensified campaign against neglected tropical diseases (NTDs) in the county.
Speaking during the official opening of the exercise, area team leader Mrs. Faith Owuor encouraged parents and guardians to ensure their households benefit from the upcoming exercise which will witness deworming medication being administered to all individuals aged 1 year and above, while Bilharzia treatment will be offered only in identified endemic areas.
The campaign is scheduled to take place from July 17th to July 21st, 2025, targeting thousands of residents across Kakamega County.
To ensure maximum coverage and accessibility, drug distribution will be carried out through school visits, home-to-home outreach, visits to religious institutions among other community-based approaches.
