NEWLY APPOINTED CHIEF OFFICERS ASSUME OFFICE

Kakamega County today marked a new chapter in its governance as newly appointed Chief Officers formally took up their duties in a ceremony presided over by County Secretary, Dr. Lawrence Omuhaka. The appointments, made by Governor H.E. FCPA Fernandes Barasa, OGW, followed a competitive recruitment process by the County Public Service Board and subsequent approval by the County Assembly, in accordance with Section 45(1) of the County Governments Act, 2012.

During the ceremony, County Secretary Omuhaka congratulated the incoming officers and urged them to approach their assignments with diligence and a commitment. He emphasized that the success of their work would be instrumental in sustaining the county’s development momentum and strengthening the Governor’s re-election prospects.

The CECM for Public Administration, Dr. Bonface Okoth, called on the officers to remain firmly aligned with the Governor’s vision, stressing the importance of unity, loyalty, and adherence to a shared development agenda. He noted that the effective implementation of county policies depends on their ability to work as a coordinated team with clear priorities.

The new Chief Officers take charge of crucial departments including Public Health, Roads & Energy, Social Services, Gender & Culture, Education, Youth & Sports, Cooperatives, Finance, ICT, Special Programmes, Lands, Technical Services, Economic Planning, County Administration, and Communication & e-Government.

Their assumption of office comes at a time when Governor Barasa’s administration is intensifying efforts to deliver on the Six Strategic Pillars focusing on infrastructure, health, agriculture, social development, governance, and economic growth.

The officers are expected to inject fresh energy, innovative ideas, and strong leadership to ensure that county services reach the people efficiently and contribute to sustainable development across Kakamega.
