FINAL JOURNEY OF CHIEF OFFICER JESSICA WEKU WESONGA

Today, the County Government of Kakamega, family, friends, and colleagues begin the final journey of the late Chief Officer Jessica Weku Wesonga.

Her body was this morning removed from Kakamega Funeral Parlour, followed by a memorial service led by County staff at Bukhungu International Stadium.

At 12:15 p.m., the cortege will proceed to her ancestral home in Matungu, before making stopovers at St. Anne’s Lukusi ACK Sub-Parish and St. John’s Mukhweya ACK Parish. The procession will later move to Weyaba Village, Kholera Ward, her ancestral home.

From 5:15 p.m., the body will be taken to her matrimonial home in Shinyulu Village, Marenyo, Shianda Ward, Butere Sub-County, where a night vigil will be held.

On Friday, 12th September 2025, a family service will be conducted by St. Barnabas ACK Shinyulu, starting at 12:00 p.m., accompanied by candle lighting and a night vigil.

The final funeral service will take place on Saturday, 13th September 2025, from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at Shinyulu Primary School grounds, after which she will be laid to rest at her matrimonial home.
