Kakamega County will host the inaugural Lake Region Economic Bloc (LREB) Climate Change Summit and Agri-Expo from October 15โ17, 2025, at Masinde Muliro University of Science and Technology (MMUST), with President William Ruto as the Chief Guest.
The outcome of todayโs special LREB Summit at the Grand Royal Swiss Hotel in Kisumu changed the earlier proposed dates of October 7thโ10th to October 15thโ17th. The meeting was attended by H.E. Governor FCPA Fernandes Barasa, LREB Chairman and Kisumu Governor H.E. Prof. Anyangโ Nyongโo, LREB Vice Chair and Bungoma Governor H.E. Kenneth Lusaka, LREB CEO Mr. Victor Nyagaya, and other key stakeholders.
Themed *โInvesting in Climate Solutions: Finance, Innovation and Action,โ* the event will bring together delegates, innovators, and investors to mobilize finance for climate-smart investments, promote agricultural and energy innovations, strengthen inter-county collaboration, and empower youth, women, and grassroots communities.
Key outcomes will include the Kakamega Declaration on Regional Climate Action, an inventory of bankable green investment opportunities, and the adoption of climate-smart technologies. The summit will also explore blueprints for carbon projects, e-mobility transition, and waste management.
For residents of Kakamega and the wider LREB region, the summit promises direct impact through stronger food security systems, climate resilience, and new economic opportunities.
