KAKAMEGA SHINES IN NAVCDP MIDTERM REVIEW MEETING
The County Government of Kakamega was honoured with a Bronze Award for exemplary performance in community mobilization and farmer extension and ranked among the most improved counties during this yearβs mid-term review.
The Chief Officer for Agriculture and Irrigation, Mr Emmanuel Kariuki, represented the CECM for Agriculture, Mr Mophat Mandela, at a joint review meeting of County Executive Committee Members on the implementation of the National Agricultural Value Chain Development Project (NAVCDP).
Key achievements under the project include farmer registration, animal vaccination, mobilization of farmers into CIGs/VMGs, formation and training of CDDCs, and training of SACCO and FPO leaders, among other activities, all aimed at increasing agricultural productivity, aggregation, and market participation.
This milestone demonstrates the commitment of H.E. Dr. FCPA Fernandes Barasa, Governor of Kakamega County, to advancing food and nutrition security alongside wealth creation.
The event was graced by the Cabinet Secretary for Agriculture, Sen. Mutahi Kagwe, and the Chair of the Agriculture Committee at the Council of Governors, Governor Ken Lusaka.
