New 45-Bed Maternity Ward at Matungu Level IV Hospital Set for Commissioning

H.E. Dr. Fernandes Barasa, FCPA, OGW, Governor of Kakamega County, has confirmed that the newly constructed, modern 45-bed maternity wing at Matungu Level IV Hospital is complete, fully equipped, and scheduled for commissioning later this month.

Speaking while attending the funeral of Mzee John Mzee John Lutta Maranje at Namulungu Village, Kholera Ward, Matungu Sub-County, the Governor also announced the formal closure of the FY 2025/26 ward-based bursary application process, noting that disbursement will proceed as planned.

Governor Barasa, accompanied by Area MCA Hon. Karim Tingili and members of the County Executive, conveyed his condolences to the family, relatives, and residents, describing the late Mzee Maranje as a respected elder and a source of wisdom whose death brings a significant loss to the Kholera community. The Governor called on residents to remain united and to continue supporting the bereaved family.
