THREE PLAYERS FROM KAKAMEGA COUNTY SECURE USA FOOTBALL OPPORTUNITIES

Three players have secured opportunities to join different football clubs in the United States following a successful soccer talent identification and nurturing programme held at Bukhungu Stadium, Kakamega County.
The programme targeted boys and girls aged between 14–21 years from across the larger Western Region and aimed at identifying promising football talent while creating pathways for further development and international exposure.
The scouting exercise was conducted by international scouts from the United States, with Matt Reed from Indiana Wesleyan University assessing male participants and Keaton Albert from Huntington University scouting female participants. Kenya football legend Bob Oyugi was also present and supported the scouting process.
The event attracted players who had recently participated in the 4th edition of the Governor’s Cup, drawing a total of 121 athletes , 84 male and 34 female. After a competitive assessment, Hamisi Otieno from Lurambi Sub-County, Abdinoor Omar from Mumias West, and Clotilda Auma from Lurambi were selected to advance their football careers in the USA.
Today, the CECM for Sports, Ms. Jackline Masicha on behalf of H. E Dr. FCPA Fernandes Barasa wished them well as they prepare to depart, noting that additional players are expected to travel to the United States in phases.
Also present during the send-off were Chief Officers Ms. Christine Oside and her sports counterpart, Mr. Lawrence Omukoyani.
