USAID 4 THE CHILD HANDS OVER ASSETS TO KAKAMEGA COUNTY.

The County Government of Kakamega has today officially received assets from USAID 4 the Child following the complete exit of USAID operations, consequent to the stop-work order issued by U.S. President, Donald Trump. The assets handed over include Motor Vehicle Registration Number KDG 707C, laptops, office chairs, printers, and other assorted office equipment previously utilized in supporting child-focused health programmes within the County.
Speaking during the handover ceremony, Deputy Governor, Hon. Ayub Savula, welcomed the gesture, noting that the vehicle will strengthen the Department of Health Services’ outreach and coordination efforts in sustaining support for vulnerable children across Kakamega County.
County Secretary and Head of Public Service, Dr. Lawrence Omuhaka, expressed appreciation to USAID 4 the Child for its longstanding partnership and contribution towards improving the welfare of vulnerable children. He particularly acknowledged the programme’s role in advancing Governor Fernandes Barasa’s Quality Healthcare pillar through enhanced child health interventions.
County Executive Committee Member (CECM) for Health Services, Dr. Livingston Imbayi, reaffirmed the department’s commitment to ensuring continuity of services for all children previously supported under the USAID 4 the Child programme, emphasizing that no beneficiary will be left behind despite the donor’s exit.
In addition to the central assets, USAID 4 the Child also handed over office equipment to Malava, Matunda, and Mautuma Sub-County Hospitals, as well as the Lumakanda Sub-County Children’s office to support ongoing service delivery.
Also present during the handover exercise were CECM for Finance, Mr. Benjamin Andama, Chief Officer for Medical Services, Dr. David Alilah, Chief Officer for Public Health, Mrs. Rose Muhanda, among other County officials.
