ALL SET FOR KAKAMEGA AGRIBUSINESS & TRADE EXPO 2026
Thursday, 12th March 2026 marked an exciting pre-exhibition field excursion ahead of the highly anticipated Kakamega Agribusiness & Trade Expo 2026, which takes place tomorrow, Friday 13th March 2026, at Ingavira Grounds in Malava, Kakamega County.
The tour brought together key stakeholders and partners who interacted directly with innovative farmers across the County, showcasing practical agribusiness solutions that are transforming rural livelihoods.
Farmers demonstrated impactful initiatives including Black Soldier Fly production, hay establishment and storage, poultry farming, and horticulture. These innovations are strengthening farm productivity by improving feed availability, promoting sustainable waste management, and opening up new income opportunities for farmers and youth engaged in agribusiness.
The delegation was led by Kakamega County CECM for Trade, Mr. Godfrey Awori, accompanied by Chief Officer for Trade, Ms. Faith Gitira. Mr. Awori reaffirmed the County’s commitment to strengthening agribusiness value chains, noting that empowering farmers with knowledge, innovation, and market access is key to unlocking the full potential of agriculture in Kakamega.
One of the key stops during the tour was at Moi Showground in Mahiakalo, Lurambi Constituency, where Mr. Canvalentine Omutachi, Team Leader at Ingo Agrichamp Youths Association, welcomed the delegation. He showcased innovative hay farming practices designed to boost cattle productivity in the region, highlighting how proper fodder production and storage can significantly improve livestock performance.
The visit also brought together a strong network of partners including the KNCCI Expo Organising Committee, Kakamega County Government partners, ABSA Bank, Lions Club, Lubao FM, Metropol CRB, KelCop, Agricultural Finance Corporation, Faulu Bank, Holden Farm, among others.
Tomorrow’s Expo is expected to bring together farmers, agribusiness players, financial institutions, innovators, and development partners for a day of learning, networking, and showcasing opportunities within the agricultural sector.
