GOVERNOR BARASA HIGHLIGHTS DEVELOPMENT PROGRESS IN MUMIAS WEST
H.E. Governor Dr. Fernandes Barasa, FCPA, has announced good progress of development projects in Musanda Ward, Mumias West Sub-County. He said his administration is focused on improving the lives of residents through key projects.
The Governor spoke during a church service at Mowar Roho Israeli Church in Bungasi, Musanda Ward. He also engaged with traders and residents at Bungasi.
In his address, Governor Barasa said work on the Mumias–Matawa–Indangalasia Road has resumed and is moving well. The road will improve transport and help grow local businesses. He also said the Bungasi Modern Market will be completed in the next two months. The market will give traders a conducive environment to do business.
Governor Barasa announced that Kshs. 60 million will be issued this financial year under the social grants programme to support women, youth, and persons with disabilities (PWDs) in starting and growing businesses. The programme will benefit 1200 women groups from the 60 wards of Kakamega County by strengthening livelihoods through wealth creation.
In health, the Governor confirmed that the Lukongo Health Facility in Etenje Ward is complete. He added that Bungasi Health Centre will be upgraded to improve services.
On education, the Governor said bursary funds will be released starting the coming week, as the vetting process has been completed, to support Grade 10 students and reduce the burden on parents.
The Governor was accompanied by Members of the County Assembly led by Majority Leader Hon. Philip Maina, Musanda MCA Joseph Omusinde, and other leaders.
