GOVERNOR BARASA INSPECTS COMPLETED ROAD WORKS IN KHWISERO, SETS SIGHTS ON BITUMEN UPGRADE

This afternoon, H.E. Governor Dr. Fernandes Barasa, FCPA, inspected the completed maintenance works on the Ematioli–Ekonjero–Emasatsi–Munjiti Road in Kisa East Ward, Khwisero Sub-County. The project forms part of the county’s broader infrastructure development agenda aimed at enhancing connectivity and improving service delivery.
The road, which serves as a vital link for farmers, traders, schools, and health facilities, has now been upgraded to an all-weather standard, built to withstand harsh conditions and guarantee reliable access throughout the year. The works were undertaken with support from the Road Maintenance Levy Fund.
The completed upgrade is expected to significantly improve mobility, reduce travel time, and strengthen the efficiency of the local transport network, thereby facilitating the movement of agricultural produce and access to essential services.
Speaking during the inspection, Governor Barasa underscored the critical role of road infrastructure in driving grassroots economic growth and improving livelihoods. He noted that enhanced connectivity will continue to unlock opportunities for residents across the sub-county.
The Governor further announced that plans are underway to upgrade the road to bitumen standard in the 2026/2027 financial year, marking the next phase in the county’s commitment to sustainable infrastructure development.
The inspection was attended by Members of the County Assembly (MCAs), led by the Area MCA Hon. Dickson Aduda, alongside County officials and members of the public.
