CECM LANDS INSPECTS HOUSING AND MARKET PROJECTS IN MALAVA
The CECM for Lands, Housing, Urban Areas and Physical Planning, Ms. Angela Muchai, today conducted an inspection tour of key development projects in Malava Municipality, focusing on housing, revenue collection and market infrastructure.
During the visit, Ms. Muchai assessed the status of the Malava residential housing project, where she noted the need for further deliberations to guide additional development including the fencing of the existing housing units to enhance security.
At the Malava Municipality offices, the CECM reviewed revenue collection performance within the Municipality, about which she raised concerns over the current income levels. She pointed out existing gaps affecting revenue streams and urged the Municipal Manager, Mr. Joseph Wafula, and the sub-county Administrator, Mr. Protus Mwirumba, to strengthen systems and support the County Government in maximising local revenue collection.
The CECM also addressed the issue of traders operating along the road in Lubao Market, directing that they be relocated from the roads to the designated market space with the support of enforcement officers, to restore order and enhance safety.
In a bid to establish the state of sanitation and market conditions, the CECM visited Malava Market alongside a team from Lake Victoria North to assess a proposed site for the construction of a six door ablution block under the Malava Municipality. The team is also overseeing the supervision of the Malava Water Supply Project.
