𝐊𝐇𝐖𝐈𝐒𝐄𝐑𝐎 𝐌𝐎𝐃𝐄𝐑𝐍 𝐌𝐀𝐑𝐊𝐄𝐓 𝐓𝐎 𝐁𝐎𝐎𝐒𝐓 𝐓𝐑𝐀𝐃𝐄 𝐀𝐒 𝐊𝐀𝐊𝐀𝐌𝐄𝐆𝐀 𝐃𝐄𝐄𝐏𝐄𝐍𝐒 𝐍𝐀𝐓𝐈𝐎𝐍𝐀𝐋 𝐆𝐎𝐕𝐄𝐑𝐍𝐌𝐄𝐍𝐓 𝐏𝐀𝐑𝐓𝐍𝐄𝐑𝐒𝐇𝐈𝐏.

H.E. Governor Dr. Fernandes Barasa, FCPA, on Wednesday, attended the groundbreaking ceremony for the Khwisero Modern Market in Khwisero Sub-County, presided over by H.E. President Dr. William Samoei Ruto, under the Economic Stimulus Programme (ESP).

The project, a partnership between the National Government and the County Government of Kakamega, is set to enhance local trade and create employment opportunities, with the County Government providing land for its implementation.

The Khwisero Modern Market adds to a growing network of markets being developed across Kakamega County through collaboration between the two levels of government. The project is expected to bring order, dignity, and security to the daily operations of micro and small enterprises, creating a more structured and enabling environment for trade.

Governor Barasa noted that such joint initiatives are accelerating development across the county, citing ongoing projects including the construction of Bukhungu Stadium and Kakamega County Teaching and Referral Hospital.

The President also commissioned a rural electrification project at Ebutani Junction, expanding access to electricity and supporting economic activities in the area.

The day’s activities culminated in a public engagement rally at Khwisero Grounds, where Governor Barasa reaffirmed Kakamega County’s alignment with the broad-based government framework and commitment to sustained intergovernmental collaboration in delivering inclusive development.
